Land care Management & the Local Environment.

Kent has been commissioned by Marrickville Council to create a series of images on local environmental land care sites. The images have been made at four sites, Tempe Reserve, Marrickville Golf Course, Addison Road Nursery and Camperdown Cemetery . Camperdown Cemetery & Marrickville Golf course both contain remanet native vegetation which is being maintained by volunteer groups. Tempe Reserve & Addison road nursery also utilise volunteers and are seeking to recreate native vegetation in the Marrickville Local Government area.

The photos focus on the native vegetation, heritage issues and the essential work done by volunteers to grow and maintain these environments. The images will be appearing in traveling displays and local publications from August 2005.

Richard Simpkin's‘Australian Legends’

Richards first monograph ‘Australian Legends’ is to be launched at Parliament House in Sydney by Premier Bob Carr this August. Kent & Richard met last year as finalists in the Citygroup Australian Portrait Prize and Kent has been very excited about seeing Richards eight years of photography and research come to fruition ion this unique book. Omnipresent Postponed!

Unfortunately Kent ’s Omnipresent exhibition that had been slated for late June 2005 was unable to be hung due to unforseen circumstances. The show is still in the pipe line however a venue and time for the show are yet to be confirmed. You can however get an idea of the exhibitions direction by previewing two of the images from the show on this site in the ‘exhibition’ folder.
